You may know Beatrix Potter as the author and illustrator of one of the world's most cherished children’s book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, but did you know she was a world-class conservationist, a prize-winning sheep breeder, and an expert mycologist? 

In this talk you will learn all about her early influences, her incredible artistic talent, and the lifelong love letter to the charming English countryside and the small creatures that inhabited it that she portrayed so magically in her series of small books.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER

Dolly Rosen is a lifelong independent scholar drawn to the past, with a particular passion for the Victorian era. She is a culinary historian, known to recreate historic recipes from meat pies to coronation cakes with unmatched flourish. She makes her love of history come to life to engage and delight others, and has been known to administer quizzes on Queen Victoria trivia to pedestrians and to throw the late monarch annual birthday parties, period dress required.  She shares Beatrix Potter's love of the country life, historic buildings and land conservation and has enjoyed the wonderful tales written by Beatrix Potter since she was old enough to read.
